Reviews/Quotes

"Maritere pioneered the discussion about parenting issues within the Latino immigrant family years ago when her column first began publishing in La Opinión and other ImpreMedia publications. Now she writes for many websites, including her own, making her parenting advice available to thousands of Latino parents throughout the U.S. This book is a must read for parents navigating two or more cultures." -Monica Lozano, former CEO, ImpreMedia, Retired "Parenting bicultural children takes commitment and dedicatio, and it is often a journey paved with bumps and turns. Mari's book is an essential how-to-guide on making this journey and easier and more meaningful one for kids, parents and extended family." -Angelica Perez-Litwin, PhD, Founder, Latinas Think Big || REVIEWS: By My Escuelita: Spanish for Kids on March 14, 2016 Format: Paperback As a bilingual educator and owner of My Escuelita: Spanish for Kids, Maritere Bella's book "Arroz con Pollo and Apple Pie" is the perfect addition to our language immersion program. An essential read for all parents who are navigating this sometimes challenging journey. I'm thrilled to share this book with the parents of our students and use it as a launching pad to keep this conversation alive! What an important resource for our community! As a pre-service teacher trainer I also can't wait to share with my students at the university! As a bi-cultural, bilingual and bi-literate Puerto Rican mother of three bicultural children, this book is exactly what I've been looking for. It will be front and center in my home! By Olga M. Grimalt on March 15, 2016 Format: Paperback Having been raised as a first generation Latina in the U.S., I know first hand the experience of being raised in two lands: one 'here' and one 'there', and the conflicts that arise both internally and externally of deciding where you fit in. As a Latina mami, raising two daughters, and wanting to maintain the language and culture of my parents, Maritere Rodriguez Bellas' book, Arroz con Pollo and Apple Pie: Raising Bicultural children is very timely. A must read for all parents who on a daily basis are faced with the challenges of raising children in the U.S., while maintaining the values, language and culture of our parents and grandparents. "Si se puede." Thank you, Mari! ByMariana Llanoson May 22, 2016 Great book for families who need encouragement and ideas on how to keep their native culture alive at home. The author does a great job describing her own experience. I was able to relate to many of her own experiences.
