Lee E. Cart is an award-winning author, book reviewer, editor, and publisher for Ek’ Balam Press. A member of the International Society of Latino Authors, Ms. Cart is the author of Born in the Wayeb: Book One of The Mayan Chronicles, which was a winner in the 17th Annual International Latino Book Awards, celebrating worldwide achievements in Latino literature. Ms. Cart lives in central Maine, but lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for over seven years as a child. The time spent in Mexico created a deep love and passion for the country, its people and cultures, which is evident in her writing. Friendships forged in Ms. Cart's childhood continue to this day. Ms. Cart enjoys reading, writing, cooking, gardening, and traveling to Mexico, Hawaii, and Ireland. When she is not writing, she can often be found curled up some place snug with a good novel, a cup of hot tea, and a piece of very dark chocolate.
