The book is a historic account of the colonization of the Patagonia and the Tierra del Fuego, through the biography of José Menéndez, spanish businessman with companies in Argentina and Chili. Across its pages the adventures of explorers and navigators are told and the clash of civilizations with the native peoples from the region that were close to disappear.
About the Author: Jose Luis Alonso Marchante
Born in Gijón-Spain (1971), José Luis Alonso Marchante graduated in Economics at the University of Zaragoza and studied History at the Complutense University of Madrid, city where he currently lives. In 2007 he published his first book "Muerte en Somiedo" on the Franco's repression in Asturias and León. Following the path of José Menéndez in 2009 he travelled to the Tierra del Fuego and in 2011 to Magallanes and Santa Cruz. He also carried out his research in different Historical Archives in Buenos Aires, Santiago and Punta Arenas. Menéndez, el rey de la Patagonia is his second book.
